I am an Apple whore

Yesterday I purchased a brand new Apple Macbook (Black) from the Apple Store in Salem, NH.

I know a collective “WHAT?” just came from those who know me, especially since I just bought an iMac 6 months ago.

The main reason is I really missed having a laptop. Being able to bring your computer wherever you need to, if you are traveling to see family or even for work is a huge plus. Plus I like sometimes using the laptop from my deck or in other locations of my house. An iMac prevented me from doing that.

Another huge plus is the ability to dual-boot Windows with Boot Camp. I installed Windows XP last night and as far as I can tell, everything is working just like a normal Windows computer…except on the best Windows computer out there, a Macbook :) I plan on trying out Parallels as well.

I plan on writing a full review of the Macbook soon. So far though, I have had no hardware issues with it. No whine, the heat seems to be at an acceptable level so far, and the computer absolutely screams even with just 512 MB of memory. I just ordered two 2 GB sticks of RAM, so I will have this maxed out in about a week.

This is 6 months after I bought my first Mac and switched to Macs for home use. The iMac I had purchased then will be sold, probably on eBay. If anyone is interested in buying it from me (1.9 GHz G5, 1.5 GB of RAM, 160 GB HD, iLife ’06 DVD, AppleCare 3-year warranty, etc.), please drop me a line at chris at chrisgonyea.com. Serious offers only. The computer as been absolutely stellar for me and has never had an issue hardware wise. I would keep it, but I can only afford having one computer and the Macbook is the winner on that front.

$80

One of my birthday (it was yesterday, May 11th) presents was some scratch tickets from my parents. The 1st one was a dud, but man do I like the 2nd one. $80! First time I have ever won more then $5 on one of these.

First Game

Well the first softball game didn’t go well (I think we lost 18-5 or some crazy score like that). Good news is I played about half of the game in right field and went 1-2 with a hard line drive single to left field at the plate.

What a cold and wet night for softball though. Luckly we got 6 innings in before the rain really started to come down.

It better not rain next Tuesday.

The new album smell

There is nothing better then the feeling you get when you buy a newly released album the day it comes out, pop it in the car stereo while still in the parking lot, briefly looking at the artwork and jewel case insert, and blasting it as loud as you can take it while heading home after a long day of work.
I may do some reviews of the new Tool and Pearl Jam albums if I get a chance the next few days.
