What really matters on the JonBenet case
For some reason, the JonBenet Ramsey case always fascinated me, even though I haven’t really thought about it recently. Finally, it appears that justice will finally happen.
I thought I would share a quote from Tom Foreman, a CNN Correspondent writing on Anderson Cooper’s 360° Blog. It pretty much sums up what everyone feels.
A colleague in New York asked me years ago the perennial question: When will someone be arrested?
I took out a coin, taped it to the top of her computer, and said, “I’ll bet you this quarter that it never happens. If it does, take the quarter. Meanwhile, I’ll always know I’ve got 25 cents waiting for me in New York.”
I hope she took it today. Best quarter I ever lost.
The Worst President in History?
I just finished reading this Rolling Stone article titled “The Worst President in History?“.
It is sad that I agree with every single point made in it. This is while trying as hard as I can to be objective. To have someone like this running the country makes me so angry and sad.
Why I use DreamHost
Those few souls who are regular visitors to my site probably noticed some uptime issues the past few weeks. My web host DreamHost was having problem after problem. It was getting quite annoying and I even thought about leaving DreamHost.
However, in probably the best case of telling the truth that I have seen in a long time, DreamHost came clean and took the blame for the outage. They even took blame for things they really couldn’t control.
That is why I have my site hosted by them. Their honesty and genuine effort to keep their services up is quite impressive. While I would recommending waiting until DreamHost has restored their reputation of reliability, I would not hesitate recommending them afterwards.
Another day, another walk-off for Ortiz
I really wish I did more writing on sports, especially after moments like last night’s walk-off HR by Red Sox DH David Ortiz. What an amazing game that in some ways could read like a movie script. Only could the Red Sox make someone scream at the top of their lungs when everyone else is either in bed or going to bed.
The Joy of Sox has a very interesting blog post on David Ortiz’s heroics since the 2004 season. I couldn’t make up numbers that are better then what he has done.
I took a look at all Red Sox home games since Ortiz joined the team in 2003. When I started, I figured that contrary to what we all think, Ortiz doesn’t always win games in walk-off situations. We simply forget the times he has made an out.
Well, in the last two seasons, that’s simply not true.
He DOES do it all the time.
2003: 2-for-5, HR, 2 RBI, BB 2004: 2-for-8, HR, 3 RBI 2004 PS: 3-for-5, 2 HR, 5 RBI, BB 2005: 3-for-3, 2 HR, 5 RBI, 2 BB 2006: 5-for-6, 3 HR, 10 RBI, 2 BBSince the end of the 2004 regular season, Ortiz has come to the plate in a walk-off situations 19 times — and reached base 16 times. He is 11-for-14 (.786), with 7 HR and 20 RBI.
In 2005 and 2006, he is 8-for-9, with 5 HR and 15 RBI!
Simply amazing. The best part about all of this? I got to witness one of the walkoffs in person during the 2004 playoffs (Game 3 of the ALDS vs. the Angels).
